In 1716 A.D. Jaat ruler Raja Nandram's son Bhoj Singh took over the rule of Hathras from the Rajput rulers. After Bhoj Singh, his son Sadan Singh became the ruler of Hathras followed by his son Bhoori Singh. It is believed that during the reign of Bhoori Singh, the temple of Lord Balarama was built at the fort of Hathras. After Shri Bhoori Singh, his son Raja Dayaram was crowned in 1775 A.D. In 1784, Scindia ruler Madhavrao established his regime around Hathras. The region was annexed by the British in 1803. After independence of India, District Hathras was a Tehsil of District Aligarh in U.P. District Hathras was created pursuant to U.P. Government's Notification No. C.M.70/1-5-97(85)/97 Rajaswa-5, Uttar Pradesh Shasan Rajaswa Anubhag-5 dated Lucknow, May 06, 1997. Though, it was renamed as District Mahamayanagar having its headquarter at Hathras but was restored to its original name Hathras in the year 2012. It was created consequent to reorganization of earlier District of Aligarh and Mathura. At present, District Hathras comprises of the area falling in the Sub Division/Tehsils of Hathras Sadar, Sikandrarao, Sasni and Sadabad. The fort of Raja Dayaram is located at the heart of the city.[...]
