Initially the Court of Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (Mofussil) at Biswanath Chariali was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice P.C Reddi, Chief Justice, Hon’ble Gauhati High Court on 25th Aug’ 1986 and Court of Munsiff at Biswanath Chariali was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.N Saikia, Chief Justice, Hon’ble Gauhati High Court on 11th Sep’ 1987. Later on, Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (F.T.C.) at Biswanath Chariali was established on 26th Aug’ 2002. The Judicial Courts of Biswanath Chariali are functioning under Sonitpur District Judiciary. Auspicious day on 21st May’ 2022, the newly created Court of District and Sessions Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate at Biswanath Chariali was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ajit Borthakur, Hon’ble Gauhati High Court and Portfolio Judge for the Sonitpur District and Shri Pijush Hazarika, Hon’ble Minister for Water Resource, Information and Public Relations, Printings and Stationery and Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of Assam. Mr. Jogeswar Borah is posted as first Hon’ble District and Sessions Judge, Biswanath at Biswanath Chariali and Mr. Abdus Sattar is posted as first Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate, Biswanath at Biswanath Chariali.
