District Court - Supaul
The Judgeship of Supaul was created on 22.11.2014. Prior to that it was an unit of Saharsa Judgeship from 18.11.1968 to 21.11.2014. Hon’ble Chief Justice of Patna High Court Ms. Rekha M. Doshit had inaugurated the Judgeship of Supaul. At the time of creation of Supaul Judgeship there was one Sub-Division under it-viz. Birpur.
Sri Sanjay Kumar is the 1st District & Sessions Judge and Sri Balram Singh is the 1st Principal Judge (Family Court) of Supaul Judgeship.
Civil Court, Supaul was unit of Bhagalpur Judgeship till 17th November 1968. The exact year when the Munsif Court stated functioning could not ascertain. Sub-Judge Court opened at Supaul in 1974. Prior to this it was one of Sub-Division of Madhepura.
It is relevant to mention here that as a result of Koshi flood, the Court of the Madhepura was shifted at Supaul w.e.f 05.06.1934. The office of the Sub-Divisional officer at Madhepura was also shifted to Supaul in the same year. The office of Sub-Divisional officer Madhepura at Supaul and the Court of Munsif was sifted back to Madhepura with effect from 1st July 1938. The office of the Sub-Divisional officer, Supaul was shifted to Saharsa due to flood in 1940 and come back to Supaul in 1944.
