The Judgeship Malkangiri was separated from the mother Judgeship of Koraput at Jeypore and started functioning separately from 20.04.2013. It was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Justice Shri B. K. Mishra Orissa High Court Cuttack in presence of Hon’ble Shri A.K. Mishra, Registrar Admin, Orissa High Court Cuttack, Hon’ble Shri Ajit Kumar Pattnaik, the then District Judge, Koraput and Hon’ble Shri Govinda Chandra Panigrahi, the 1st District Judge, Malkangiri. Earlier the District Court Complex was functioning in a building spared by Revenue Authority, Malkangiri. After inauguration of newly established District Court Building at Malkangiri on 10.09.2021 by Hon'ble the Chief Justice Dr. S. Muralidhar, Orissa, High Court, Cuttack in presence of Hon'ble Shri Justice S.K. Panigrahi, Administrative Judge of Malkangiri Judgeship and other Companion Judges of the Court, all the courts are shifted and now functioning in the new District Court Building, Malkangiri.
